In a Vase on Monday - November Freshness

We simply adore these buttons that by this time every November are in bloom again in the grass. They are fresh and beautiful, in complete contrast with the autumn landscape around where most of the plants and flowers are passing away. I have added a few little violas and some evergreen spikes. And, of course, they deserved a brand new vase which I bought last week.😊.

In a Vase on Monday - Fresh Lavender & Other Blues

Some late Lavender blooms display their beauty in our garden these days. They look great in a big zinc container, but also in the vase that I have arranged today with some other blues: salvias, lobelias, aster, bells, a balloon flower and a pansy.

In a Vase on Monday - Pink-Purple

My new beautiful vase had to be filled with some beauties so I have selected some pink-purple ones that are in bloom in my garden these days - late summer Weigela flowers, Hosta Purple Passion, Balloon flowers and Hibiscus.

In a Vase on Monday - A Beautiful Healer

I have never tested the healing properties of Echinacea (and I have read there are so many 🙂)! , but I love this plant mainly for the way it looks, its beautiful colours and the unique mixture of grace and strength that brings joy to our garden these days in July.

In a Vase on Monday - Day's Eye

I have always loved daisies and since my childhood I have considered these simple yet sophisticated flowers some of the most beautiful appearances of the floral world. If I had had more space in my garden (and less snails!), I would have filled it with daisies ! Still, I have a few young clumps that I love watching these lovely sunny summer days.

A few facts about daisies (via The Telegraph:
- are found everywhere on Earth except Antarctica
- the name ”daisy”is thought to come from the Old English ”daes eag” which means ”day's eye”
- represents purity and innocence
- a daisy is actually two flowers in one
- daisy leaves are edible

In a Vase on Monday - July Orange

We have plenty of beautiful orange California Poppies in our old garden that belonged to my husband s grandmother and they are in bloom these days, adding wonderful splashes of colour all over the place. I know they do not last long in a vase, but I think that for a few days they will look just great in the company of some Achillea Ptarmica the Pearl and a few spikes of Lavender and grasses 😊.

In a Vase on Monday - The Tall Ones in the Rain

As Phlox and Summer Snow have just opened they are very fresh and look well together in a jug I have not used for a very long time. To fill it properly, I added some seed heads of Love in a Mist and a few spikes of other tall ones, the blue Salvia and  Achilea Ptarmica. As it has been raining since last night, I had to take the photos between the showers and place the vase in various places to catch the best light.Have a great week!

In a Vase on Monday - quick decision

Unlike other Mondays, today I knew from the very beginning, from the first look I had around the garden this morning, what flowers I wanted for my vase - Lychnis Coronaria with its lovely and unique colour (Bloody William is a good popular name for it, isn t it?! - in Romanian we call it Coronite, closer to the name Coronaria ) and Iberis Umbrellata whose beautiful light purple umbrellas are floating everywhere these days. A few spikes of Lavender, as usual and some late and fresh Weigela flowers and the vase has been ready very quickly! Have a great summer!

It is quite amazing to see how the same vase look different depending on the light they are in.

In a Vase on Monday - White and Pink and June

White and pink look well together in June. Astilbe, roses, salvia, love in a mist, a few bells and double Philadelphus are delights of the new season that has just begun. Enjoy summer, then!

In a Vase on Monday - Transition

It is the end of May and the garden is ready to welcome summer after a great season of spring flowers. To mark this transition, in my today vase I have combined the last Anemones (De Caen) in the garden and the first Lavender in bloom in a very old glass vase found in a grandmother s shed.Have a great summer, gardeners around the world!
