In a Vase on Monday - Burgundy

Because we can still enjoy the presence of some beautiful burgundy mums in our garden, it would have been a pity not to highlight this elegant colour in a vase. The rest are some summer ”leftovers” (blue Salvia, a pink rose bloom), a few grasses, some pinky white mums, seed heads of Iris Sibirica and Allium and a dry Astilbe spike.

Sunt multe păsări care ne tot vizitează în aceste zile, dar guguștiucii sunt cei mai simpatici.Ieri au fost chiar și niște albinuțe mânate la muncă de un strop de soare.

Deadheads & Fruits

Over the years, I have learned that we should not deadhead everything in the garden. At this time of the year our Nandinas and Honeysuckle are bearing beautiful ornamental berries, the Iris Sibirica and Hibiscus have some lovely seeds capsules, the Hydrangeas flowers still look great and a few roses have already turned the blooms into nice hips. Aren’t they nice?

Wordless Wednesday - November Morning

Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day - November 2016

În ciuda frigului și a nopților geroase, câteva flori tot au supraviețuit, niște pete mici de culoare agățate parcă prin grădină - crizanteme (mai multe), boboci de trandafiri (încremeniți așa de ceva vreme), o salvie albastră (care m-a uimit anul acesta), viole (galbene și albastre), alysumul (care arată ca astă primăvară), dar și hebe donna nikka (de două culori)./ Despite the cold weather and the frosty nights, there are still a few survivors, small spots of colour hanging on  in the garden - mums, roses, a blue Salvia that is simply amazing, violas, the Alysum that looks as fresh as it looked in spring and Hebe Donna in 2 colours.

The Tuesday View: 15 November 2016

I go on with taking photos of the same view every week, although, temporarily,  Cathy from Words and Herbs does no longer keep this meme on her site. My garden view has still something to offer, the beautiful colours of a mum and the red spots of a few roses that are still hanging on. Not to mention the incredible Alysum that looks great these days in containers. Apart from that, sheltered by the Hydrangea, the snowdrops are following their course.

In a Vase on Monday - The Last White Roses

I have picked them all today, the last 5 white roses. A few Gaura that are still in bloom despite the last night first frost and some Nandina leaves are keeping them company in my Monday vase. 

Mums 2016

We do not have many mums in the garden, but the ones we do have keep on coming back year after year for quite a long time.

The oldest is  a light pink and fragile one

My favourite colour, burgundy. They have been in the garden for about 8 years

When planted in the garden 3 years ago, it was but a very small clump

Big and double, these ones are in their second year in the garden and  the only one that came back from a bunch bought from a country gardener and planted in the garden last year
